STREPTOMYCIN

Indications

Treatment for gastrointestinal, respiratory, urogenital, skin and soft tissue diseases due to streptomycin-susceptible pathogens in cattle, horses, sheep, goats and pigs.

Contraindications

The medication is contraindicated in cases of auditory and vestibular disorders associated with neuritis of the 8th pairs of cranial nerves, severe cardiovascular and renal insufficiency.

Hypersensitivity to streptomycin. Should not be used concurrently with aminoglycoside antibiotics.

Antihistamines (dimedrol, suprastin, tavegil) and in severe cases - vascular agents (ephedrine, adrenaline, noradrenaline), 10% solution of calcium chloride intravenously, corticosteroid drugs (prednizolone, hydrocortisone) should be administered to manage complications.

Dosage and administration

Administered intramuscularly twice daily at the following doses:

Cattle, horses: mature animals – 5 mg per 1 kg of the live weight, young animals - 10 mg per 1 kg of the live weight;

Pigs, sheep, goat: mature animals - 10 mg per 1 kg of the live weight.

For intramuscular administration the drug is reconstituted with water for injections, isotonic sodium chloride solution or 0.25-0.5% novocaine solution (4 ml of the diluent per 1 g of the drug).
